Vinylene Carbonate (VC), also known as 1,3-dioxol-2-one, ethylene carbonate, English name: Vinylene Carbonate, abbreviation VC, molecular formula C₃H₂O₃, molecular weight: 86.05, CAS No.: 872-36-6. It is a colorless transparent liquid with a melting point of 22°C and a boiling point of 162°C (at atmospheric pressure).

III. Applications
It is a new type of organic film-forming additive and overcharge protection additive for lithium-ion batteries. It has excellent high and low temperature performance and anti-gassing function, which can improve battery capacity and cycle life. It can also be used as a monomer for preparing poly(vinylene carbonate).
