I. Physical and Chemical Properties

Chemical name: N-[4-[(2-amino-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-6-pteridinyl)methylamino]benzoyl]-L-glutamic acid; molecular formula: C₁₉H₁₉N₇O₆, molecular weight: 441.40, CAS No.: 59-30-3. This product is a yellow to orange-yellow crystal or crystalline powder. It darkens at approximately 250°C and carbonizes without melting. Soluble in hot dilute hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, slightly soluble in acetic acid, phenol pyridine, alkali hydroxide and carbonate solutions, very slightly soluble in methanol, insoluble in ethanol and butanol, insoluble in ether, acetone, chloroform, and benzene.
