Developing the integrated circuit industry is an important task assigned to Shanghai by the state. Today, the Shanghai Electronic Chemicals Zone is officially inaugurated, serving as a material support for the development of the integrated circuit industry. The zone will gather global superior resources and boost local supply.

Focusing on three major product categories — photoresists and supporting materials, electronic special gases and wet electronic chemicals, the Electronic Chemicals Zone of Shanghai Chemical Industry Park will build an "one‑body‑two‑wings" pattern with Shanghai Chemical Industry Park as the main body and coordinated development of Jinshan and Fengxian sub‑zones. An integrated industrial layout will take shape: Shanghai Chemical Industry Park emphasizes manufacturing and R&D, while the "two wings" focus on warehousing and non‑hazardous manufacturing.

In the zone construction, Shanghai Chemical Industry Park strives to take the lead in realizing "three aggregations", namely the aggregation of electronic‑chemical enterprises, technologies and talents. It will endeavor to build "three bases": the R&D and testing base, production base and logistics‑storage base for electronic chemicals. By 2025, the zone aims to achieve a 70‑percent supporting rate of its various products for Shanghai’s integrated‑circuit industry and a 65‑percent supporting rate for the whole country, growing into a benchmark domestic electronic‑chemical base. By 2030, it will give equal weight to local manufacturing and independent innovation, with its supporting rate for Shanghai’s integrated‑circuit industry exceeding 90 %, and evolve into an internationally influential electronic‑chemical base.
